The EastMed project aims at the development and delivery of a MOOC focused on the region of the Eastern Mediterranean. Thus, the partnership is made up by 4 Mediterranean partners. Another criterion on the basis of which the partnership was built was that all partners have experience in project-related areas, such as IR, EU Studies, EU-Mediterranean Relations, innovative learning methodologies and digital applications such as MOOCs, as well as ECTS/ESG .Each of the partners has several years’ experience in transnational cooperation; all of the partners have worked on a wide variety of European initiatives. The structure of the consortium plays on the individual strengths and expertise of the partners and this is reflected in the division of responsibilities within the partnership.
The partnership was established after extensive discussions and contemplation on understanding the Eastern Mediterranean as a "new" analytical tool, with characteristics that can lead to more prescient analyses of shared regional challenges and, perhaps more importantly, actions and initiatives aiming at cooperation and stability.
All partners have contributed to the proposal based on their expertise in the main components of the EastMed project: a) academic curricula on a learning outcomes -ECTS basis, b) Political, social, and international developments in the Eastern Mediterranean c) innovative ICT solutions for e- learning, OER etc., and d) ECTS/ESG.

established the Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society (CSEPS) as part of the Department of Politics and Government in order to enhance knowledge of contemporary political and social developments in Europe, as well as to promote a greater awareness within Israel of the growing importance of the EU. To this effect, CSEPS – which is led by the first and the only Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in Israel, Prof. Sharon PARDO – hosts the sole Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence (JMCE) in the country (awarded in 2013) and coordinated in the past a Jean Monnet Chair in European Integration Studies and a Jean Monnet Teaching Module. CSEPS develops joint projects with Europe. Coming from a Partner country of the Eastern Mediterranean, BGU will make a significant contribution to the EastMed Course, which stems from understanding the region as a "new" and distinct one, bearing specific characteristics. BGU's participation is expected to highlight crucial aspects of the relations between the EU and the Eastern Mediterranean countries. On the basis of experience and expertise, BGU leads development of O4.
